PRIVATE LESSONS

Come join Lydia for fun, spirited lessons and a fresh outlook on learning the oboe and playing music.

“I can attest that Lydia is a wonderful, observant, and sensitive teacher, who is helping me get back in shape on the Oboe. Highly recommended!”

"I consider it an honor to be able to take oboe lessons from Lydia. She is an extremely talented, brilliant and very friendly person who is so easy to communicate with. Tell her your issues and she will have multiple ways to attack them so that you can improve. I look forward to lessons with her every time. She is so enthusiastic and helpful. I have worked on rhythm, tone, technique and reed-making, among other things. I set a crazy goal for myself; she is supportive and not judgmental. I get flustered and anxious; she knows how to deal. I love talking with her. Lydia is a wonderful person, a great musician and an unusually skilled instructor."

Student should bring to each lesson:

• Oboe

• 2-3 good reeds

• Sheet Music for upcoming performances, auditions, and method books (see "Music" below).

• Spiral Notebook: In this book, we will record special exercises, alternate fingerings, phrasing ideas, assignments for the next week, etc.

Students should practice oboe no less than five days a week for at least 30 minutes a day. It needs to have a priority similar to homework in order for students to progress.

She's shown him techniques that help him grasp more complicated music, and he's come a long way in his abilities. Lydia is professional, meets her students at their level, and takes their interests into consideration. I am truly grateful for the positive influence she's had on my son's musical education!"
