Come join Lydia for fun, spirited lessons and a fresh outlook on learning the oboe and playing music.
Student should bring to each lesson:
• 2-3 good reeds
• Sheet Music for upcoming performances, auditions, etc. and Barret Oboe Method (see MUSIC below)
• Spiral Notebook - In this book, we will record special exercises, alternate fingerings, phrasing ideas, assignments for the next week, etc.
Students should practice oboe no less than five days a week for at least 30 minutes a day. It needs to have a priority similar to homework in order for students to progress.
Please purchase the Boosey & Hawkes edition of the Barrett Oboe Method. It is available from Amazon for $30, or it is free and printable on IMSLP. It is generally worth investing in your own books and sheet music, rather than using photocopies.
Also purchase a daily scale book for the oboe, such as Whitney Tustin’s “Daily Scales for Oboe” available from Midwest Musical Imports for $28.
You may text, call, voicemail, or email me. I do not keep my phone on during rehearsals, concerts, or lessons, but I am prompt with returning calls and responding to emails.
$40 for a 30 minute lesson.
$60 for a 60 minute lesson.
This includes time spent on bookkeeping and scheduling. Please try to do administrative planning in advance through email or by telephone.
Payments are due at the first lesson of each month for the full month, typically 3, 4 or 5 weeks. Missed weeks for holidays can be rescheduled or skipped. Extra lessons can be added for special performances. Try to discuss this before the first lesson of the month.
